About Yaiza

Yaiza Melero, champion of the Salsanamá 2020, world champion of bachata soloist world salsa summit 2019, and first runner-up of the Mundial de pasos libres La Negra 2018.

She is professional dancer, choreographer and the current director of her school Estudio de Danza Yaiza. She began dancing at the age of 3 in Sabadell (Barcelona). Since then, she has been trained in Flamenco and Jazz. And at the age of 9, started classical technique training.

From the age of 12, when she moved to Murcia and her family decided to open a dance studio, she focused her training on Flamenco and urban style (Funky and Hip Hop).

In 2011, she joined the flamenco ballet of her teacher until 2016, in which she created her own show titled “POEMS”, in honor of Federico García Lorca and Enrique Morente. During those years her training in other styles continued, while still forming part of an urban group. At the same time, began her training in salsa and bachata, styles that she works with most nowadays.

In 2014, she began to be part of a professional Latin dance company (Dansé Company). This same year, she also started getting prepared to compete in this solo style. It was in 2015 when he got first place in the “Spain Latin Dance Cup”, which took her to the World-wide Salsa Championship held in Miami named “World Latin Dance Cup”, where she got 5th place.

From 2015 to 2017, came a period of many competitions, many of them now in couple dancing too.

Thanks to salsa and bachata, she has traveled around the world to teach her style. She’s been to India, Russia, Italy, United States, Germany…

She obtained the title of Expert in Flamenco Art at the Catholic University of Cartagena (UCAM).

During these past recent years, she has added many titles of the best championships in the world.

Recent years
